Workers' rights hero

How a South Korean Union leader evoked a revolution

Every second year FNV awards an international prize for a union leader that bravely stood up for the rights of workers. Han San-gyun was the winner of the 2017 award. And he was rightly so: with his protest he called ten thousands of workers to the streets. Protesting in South Korea is a risky business: he got arrested and spend almost 3 years in prison.

CLIENT’S REQUEST

Han was still imprisoned during the award ceremony, but he recently got out. FNV asked us to interview Han and share his inspiring story.

WHAT WE DID

We visited Han and went with him to the place he got arrested. We worked together with a translator to catch the personal story of Han in an interview. The short film was used at the award ceremony and on social media.
